Can you imagine to lose weight by drinking coffee? All of us who love coffee, all of us who are addicted to it, would welcome the idea, woudn’t we? :)
Now, listen to this: There has been a recent study by researchers at the University of Nottingham which suggests that drinking coffee could activate the body’s fat fighting defence through the stimulation of our brown adipose tissue, a type of fat reserve that we have in our bodies.
As scientists, we know that there is still a long way to go until these preliminary findings can be fully proven. However, this is an excellent start indeed. All seems to indicate that there is a correlation between coffee and the loss of weight. The potential implication of this discovery could be very positive in the battle against obesity and diabetes.
This is not the only study that has related coffee with health and wellbeing. In 2012, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the U.S. and the New England Journal of Medicine published a study that shows a relationship between the intake of coffee and lower death rates. Although the researchers could not infer a causal relationship between coffee drinking and lower risk of death, the results do provide some reassurance that coffee drinking does not adversely affect health.
However long this research may take to be demonstrated, the bright side of the story is that those who have been drinking coffee all these years we are already benefitting from it. And if this hypothesis cannot be verified, we would have enjoyed the taste, flavours and aromas of those memorable moments drinking a cup of coffee, a cup of Moving Beans.
